Botanical Camping Trip • Apr 26-28, 2019

The instructor for this class is Autumn Summers

Join Ethnobotanist Autumn Summers and Gathering Thyme as we explore the abundant flora of the Los Padres National Forest. We will journey through grasslands, chaparral, oak woodlands, and canyon bottoms to learn the basics of botanical identification and the edible and medicinal properties of the abundance of plant life we will encounter during the season of wildflower bloom.

On this car camping trip we will take leisurely day hikes from our base camp to discover some of California's most beautiful plants and best herbal medicines. Afternoon programs will also include connecting with plants through flower essence and herbal medicine making. There will be ample free time where participants are encouraged to relax, reconnect to nature and soak in the gorgeous wild.

Logistics: We will be car camping at a rustic campground in an area of Los Padres National Forest called “the Indians”. Students will need to supply their own camping gear. We will have a group kitchen and participants will be paired up to create one community meal. We will have a group meeting prior to the trip to figure out meal planning, carpooling, and other logistics.

This year promises to be a super-bloom. Space is limited so register early! Our camping trips always sell out.
