Herbal Camping Trip for Novices & Seasoned Herbalists
Thur - Sun, June 27-30 2019
Join us on a heart-felt journey to the magnificent Sierra Mountains! Learn to open your mind, heart and senses to the natural world and deepen your connection to nature and yourself. We will again have the great fortune to be guided by Bill and Nancy Harnach, who live in the Sierra Valley and have studied and collected the plants of this region for over 25 years. They have authored the Sierra Valley and Butterfly Valley sections of the California Native Plant Society book “California’s Wild Gardens, A Living Legacy” and led numerous field trips for both the California Native Plant Society and the Nevada Native Plant Society throughout the region.
On this camping trip, we will:
Learn (or enhance) our botanical identification skills
Discover the medicinal and edible uses of many of our native plants, some of which are only found in the higher elevations
Learn the basics of wildcrafting ethically and with reverence for all of Mother Earth
Create medicine from fresh plants we've harvested including glycerites, alcohol extracts, oils, syrups and flower essences
Connect deeper with Nature and ourselves through meditation and plant journeys
We'll swim, hike, make plant medicine, share camaraderie, food, stories and song. There will be ample free time where participants are encouraged to relax, reconnect to nature and soak in the gorgeous wild. Novices and experienced herbalists welcome. Must be 21 or over to attend.
Logistics: We will be car camping at a campground in the Tahoe National Forest. Students will need to supply their own camping gear. We will have a group kitchen and participants will be paired up to create one community meal. We will have a group meeting prior to the trip to figure out meal planning, carpooling, and other logistics.
COST: $300. Registration ends June 17th or whenever we sell out.
CONTACT: For more information, contact Gathering Thyme at 415-524-8693.
